Random Pursuits is a website maintained by Dr. Elizabeth Holmes to provide online access to workshops and symposia on stochastic population dynamics and inference from such (i.e. ecological statistics). The scientific material on the site comes from both Dr. Holmes and from a variety of other scientists who do research in population dynamics or ecological statistics.

What software produced this site? This site is based on an open-source content management system, called Chinook, that Ben Weintraub and Elizabeth Holmes wrote and designed to facilitate scientific web-collaboration. Chinook is a web-based content management system which allows you to upload content as text, images, file attachments, or to import PDFs as slideshows, and then let other people view and comment on this content. Chinook is a product of Iugo-Cafe, a collaboration of Ben Weintraub, Eli Holmes, and Brice Semmens to produce open-source web-tools by and for scientists. All Iugo-Cafe products are open-source and free.
